An estimate visit is a chance to look at the damage together and work out the next step. You do not need to know the names of damaged parts before you call. A clear description of what happened and a few basic details give the shop a useful place to start.

At Kulavic’s Auto Body in Springfield, we handle collision damage, dents, scratches and bodywork. Here is how to prepare for a conversation about your vehicle.

Start with the vehicle details

Have the year, make and model ready. Note which part of the vehicle was damaged and when it happened. If you have paperwork from an earlier inspection or repair of that area, bring it along.

Tell the shop whether you plan to bring the vehicle yourself or need to arrange transport. Use online booking to request a visit. Call to discuss transport arrangements and what the shop needs before you bring it in.

Gather photos and paperwork

Photos can help you describe a dent, a scraped panel or a damaged bumper when you first contact the shop. A wider view shows which part of the vehicle is involved. A closer view shows the area you want the estimator to inspect. Photos support the conversation, but they do not replace an in-person assessment.

Bring these items if you have them:

  • Your vehicle details and contact number.
  • Clear photos of the damage.
  • Any estimate or inspection notes already prepared.
  • A claim number and insurer contact information if a claim is open.
  • A short list of questions about the repair.

You can ask the shop what it needs before making the trip. Kulavic’s works with most insurance companies; tell the team which insurer is involved so it can discuss the next steps with you.

Write down the questions that matter to you

Your priorities may be transport, an upcoming trip or understanding the cost. Tell the estimator about them at the start. Ask what the estimate includes, what still needs inspection and when the shop can give you a clearer idea of timing.

If you are comparing estimates, keep copies so you can compare the proposed work. The Federal Trade Commission’s repair guidance recommends a written estimate that identifies the repair, parts and anticipated labor.

Confirm the visit before you leave

Use the contact page for the current address, hours, phone number and booking link. Calling ahead gives you a chance to confirm availability and ask what to bring for your particular vehicle.

A useful estimate starts with the same understanding on both sides: what is damaged, what needs a closer look and what happens next. You can also read about our collision and body repair services before your visit.
